We’re excited to announce another new player on the Andean Naturals team. Sarah Connolly has joined us as Quinoa Head of Mission, and she is already working with Sergio Nunez de Arco in our Bay Area offices.
Sarah will play a key part in extending our company’s relationships with quinoa growers’ associations in southern Bolivia and in helping the farmers to understand the needs of the global marketplace. She is beyond well equipped for her role.
Prior to joining Andean Naturals, Sarah spent six years as a senior supply chain manager at Fair Trade USA, specializing in consumer packaged goods including sugar, cocoa and tea as well as quinoa. She previously directed a successful national environmental advocacy campaign to promote fuel efficiency and eliminate greenhouse gas emissions. She received degrees from Williams College and MIT and is fluent in Spanish — an invaluable asset in her new position.
Sarah began working on quinoa issues two years ago and got to know Andean Naturals through our efforts to help quinoa farmers obtain Fair Trade certification. In April 2013, she accompanied one of our teams on a field visit to Bolivia. She sees her new position with us as a logical progression.
“My career has been driven by a passion for understanding global supply chains and seeking to use the power of the consumer marketplace to create positive impacts,” Sarah said recently. “Andean Naturals has that written into its DNA. I always wanted to work inside a company that was doing things the right way. When Sergio suggested I join the Andean team, I jumped at the chance.”
