Shared Interest is an ethical investment cooperative and the world’s only 100% fair trade lender. The UK-based “friendly society” channels funds from social investors in affluent nations to uplift communities in need in developing countries.
Every year Shared Interest produces short films for prospective investors to show the impact of the low-interest loans it provides to those it serves. Last September, a film crew from Shared Interest traveled to southern Bolivia at planting time to document the challenges and successes of the region’s traditional and organic quinoa farmers.
Assisting the team’s progress on the ground and on camera was Sergio Nunez de Arco of Andean Naturals. We use a Shared Interest credit facility to offer pre-harvest payments to 4,000 farm families. Sergio is a son of La Paz and seasoned explorer of the amazing Altiplano. He says, “When you travel with me, things never go entirely according to plan…..”
Everybody survived and some great footage was captured. See the film here.
