In Bolivia, athletes in all sports have difficulty obtaining funding for equipment, training facilities and proper nutrition. In keeping with our conviction that everyone deserves the opportunity to compete on level terms, Andean Naturals sponsored a team of runners in a recent, 10k road race in La Paz. Applauded by spectators including the Minister of Health and Sports, the Fueled by Quinoa team achieved some outstanding results.
On Sunday, November 3, athletes from across the country converged on La Paz for the ninth running of the Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia 10k race (approximately six miles). Among the 5,000 runners who gathered at the starting line was an eight-member team, Fueled by Quinoa, sponsored by Andean Naturals. We supported the team with running apparel, travel expenses and naturally, quinoa for their families.
Battling strong competition, cold rain and a demanding course, the Fueled by Quinoa team came through with outstanding performances across the board. Helen Baltazar was the third woman to finish the race, earning her a place on the podium where she received her prize and congratulations from the Minister of Health and Sports, Juan Carlos Calvimontes.
In the men’s race, Fueled by Quinoa team members finished as follows:
Cesar Condarco, tenth place
Cristian Mora, 18th
Maicol Baltazar, 20th
Gabriel Patty, 24th
Paul Choque, 25th
Florentino Machaca, 65th (Senior, 52 years)
Luis Canaza, 172nd (Master, 60 years)
Andean Naturals salutes all team members and we look forward to helping fuel them to further success. We are always eager to promote fairness, healthy living and community-building activities.
